Our prayers with those affected by the earthquake in Haiti

The images and videos coming from Haiti are painful to look at. The already impoverished nation of about 10mm people has suffered a disaster of simply unimaginable proportion. Death toll is rising, millions of people left without shelter, food and basic necessities. The main airport's air traffic control tower destroyed by the earthquake but a US Navy ship is supposedly acting as a makeshift air traffic controller and supposedly first planes with aid are flying in. Countries around the world are committing humanitarian and logistic help, corporations donating money and other resources and people around the world trying to help any way they can. We hear stories of many people even getting ready to fly in and offer a helping hand.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all the families affected by this disaster including the large Haitian community here in Brooklyn.

We encourage you to do what you can to help and the quickest and most immediate way to help is to donate money. There are organizations that can use that money immediately to acquire and deliver food, clothing, and other much needed services. Whether a few dollars or few hundred dollars, your generous donation will certainly help make a difference.

Some ways you can help:

From US Department of State website www.state.gov
To help with relief efforts, text "HAITI" to "90999" and $10 will be given automatically to the Red Cross, charged to your cell phone bill.

Link to New York's FOX 5 website that has info on several organizations:

As always, there are plenty of scumbags already trying to take advantage of the human suffering and generosity of others. I tried to search for Haiti Relief on Google and already saw some suspicious looking websites trying to install a virus on my computer or others posing as legitimate charity organizations. PLEASE don't fall victim to these lowlifes - take a few minutes and make sure who you are sending money to. I like Charity Navigator www.charitynavigator.org - a good site with all types of information on various charity organizations. You can check if the charity actually exists and also how much money actually goes to the charity cause and how much is used for marketing and six-figure salaries for executives.

Please help any way you can.

Yours,
Three Guys From Brooklyn
